Do you ever feel powerless in your faith journey—unsure if your prayers matter or if your leadership makes any difference? The truth is, Jesus has given every believer real authority, not just for spiritual leaders but for you.

In Lesson 7 of Training Radical Leaders, Daniel B. Lancaster unpacks what it means to walk in your God-given authority. When you know who you are in Christ, you can serve, pray, and lead with courage—no matter where you are.

What Is Spiritual Authority?

Spiritual authority is the right and power Jesus gives us to represent Him on earth. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:18–19, NIV).

When you say “yes” to Jesus, you become His ambassador—sent to bring hope, truth, and freedom wherever you go.

How Do We Walk in Authority?

Lancaster gives simple, practical steps to live out your spiritual authority:

1. Believe Who You Are in Christ
You are God’s beloved child, chosen and empowered by His Spirit. Remind yourself daily of your identity—don’t let fear or shame have the last word.

2. Pray with Confidence
When you pray in Jesus’ name, you pray with His authority. Ask boldly for God’s will, healing, and breakthrough—trusting that heaven listens.

3. Act in Faith
Authority is not just for church settings. Serve others, make disciples, and help those in need—believing that God works through you.

4. Resist the Enemy
You have authority to stand against spiritual opposition. Speak truth, declare Scripture, and refuse to accept defeat. “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

5. Encourage Others to Lead
Part of spiritual authority is empowering others. Give people opportunities, trust them to grow, and cheer them on in their calling.

Why Authority Matters for Every Believer

Too many Christians think authority is just for pastors or missionaries. Jesus invites all of us—moms, teachers, businesswomen, students—to walk in boldness. When you use your authority in Christ, you make a difference in your family, community, and beyond.

You’re not alone. The Spirit goes with you every step of the way.

A Prayer for Boldness

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me authority in Your name. Help me remember who I am in You, to pray and serve with confidence, and to empower others to do the same. Amen.
